On Friday, October 24, the Arbitration in Times of Crises: War, Force Majeure and Commercial Balancing conference was held at the headquarters of the Court of Arbitration at the Confederation of Lewiatan, dedicated to the role of arbitration in the face of contemporary challenges such as armed conflict, force majeure situations, and disruptions in commercial relations.
During the event, Maciej Durbas, PhD, partner and leader of KKG Legal's Arbitration Practice, moderated the panel discussion "Arbitration Under Pressure: Enforcement and Procedural Adaptation in Disrupted Environments." In a conversation with an international panel of experts - Filip Balcerzak, Manuela Grosu, Iuliana Iancu, Colin Seow, and Stanislaw Soltysik - they discussed the impact of conflicts, sanctions, and geopolitical uncertainty on arbitral practice and how the law can restore balance in economic relations.
The conference marked the culmination of the first day of the Vis Moot CEE Fall Bootcamp, organized by SWPS University in collaboration with the Commercial Law Development Program and the U.S. Department of Commerce. This is one of the largest events dedicated to arbitration in Central and Eastern Europe, bringing together law students and practitioners from across the region.
