The World Arbitration Update (WAU) was a decentralised forum that brought the global community up to date on important and emerging issues in investment and international commercial arbitration and public international law.
The WAU panels followed a dynamic format where a presenter first provided an update of the issue that the panel addressed, including relevant treaty and international customary norms, as well as case law. This was followed by an open discussion among panelists, including practitioners, lawyers for investors, lawyers for states, arbitrators, officials of international organizations and arbitration centers, and academics. After each panel, there was a networking space in the breakout rooms for panelists and WAU participants to meet and interact.
On Wednesday, May 22, we held a panel on Central and Eastern Europe – Warsaw Day! During the panel, moderated by Patrycja Wysocka, partner and co-leader of the Energy and Natural Resources Practice at KKG, we discussed the impact of geopolitics and global trends on energy disputes in Central and Eastern Europe.
With KKG as one of the event sponsors, the World Arbitration Update 2024 proved to be an essential platform for advancing discussions and insights into the evolving landscape of international arbitration.
