Two days of intensive discussions, eight expert panels and one key challenge - the gaining global popularity of Coal-to-Clean Energy repowering.

The REPOWER World Summit 2025, one of the most important events dedicated to the energy transition, was held in Katowice, Poland, on March 4-5, 2025. KKG Legal had a dual role in the event - as a conference partner and an active participant in the discussion of the future of energy.

Repowering Coal-to-Clean Energy is a topic that is increasingly coming up in global energy debates. The idea of using nuclear power, biogas, biomass, geothermal or RES technologies in the existing locations of traditional coal-fired power plants stems mainly from clearly discernible technical, economic and social arguments in favor of maintaining energy activities in the surroundings of agglomerations, which have depended to varying degrees on energy for their development and social well-being. The potential of these sites creates a unique opportunity for a fair and efficient energy transition.

Representatives of KKG Legal actively participated in discussions on this topic:

  • Kamil Zawicki took part in the panel discussion “From Coal to Renewable Energy Sources,” where he and other experts - Janina Hippler-Nettlau (Malta Inc), Bogi Højgaard (The Carbon Trust), Aleksandr Sobolewski (Institute of Fuel and Energy Technology) and Wiktor Rybicki (Olana Energy) - discussed the role of modern solutions in the transformation of energy systems. The moderator of the panel was Bryony Worthington (Quantified Carbon).
  • Also present at the site were Patrycja Wysocka, attorney at law, Patrycja Nowakowska, Joanna Kosiniak and Joanna Syrek, who actively participated in discussions and exchange of experiences on legal and regulatory challenges related to decarbonization.

As a partner of REPOWER World Summit 2025, KKG Legal supported a substantive dialogue about the future of energy, combining legal, business and technological perspectives.

We would like to thank the organizers - DEsire - Energy Transformation Platform and the Silesian University of Technology - for the invitation and the opportunity to participate in this important event!
