Patrycja Wysocka and Patrycja Nowakowska as speakers at the 25th Nuclear Inter Jura Congress in Warsaw

The 25th Congress in a series of INLA conferences that had become the leading international event bringing together representatives of government, regulatory authorities, nuclear specialists, legal professionals, academics, and others involved in nuclear law. The Congress took place from November 3-7 in Warsaw. The purpose of the Congress was to promote the study of legal issues associated with the peaceful uses of nuclear energy and to encourage the exchange of information in this field.

The event featured:

  • Patrycja Wysocka, partner KKG, Energy & Natural Resources Practice Co-leader, in Session 13: “The International and European Legal Framework for the Development of ANT Projects,” with presentation titled “Could the Small Modular Reactors play the key role on the way to decarbonizing the industry sector? Legal challenges.” and
  • Patrycja Nowakowska, counsel KKG, Energy & Natural Resources Practice Expert, in Session 8: “Balancing Responsibility and Risk: Nuclear Liability and Insurance” with presentation titled “Nuclear Damage Claims Regulation in Poland: Analysis and Diagnosis.”

The Congress provided a valuable opportunity for attendees to exchange knowledge and ideas on nuclear law’s role at various stages of the nuclear facility life cycle, addressing legal and regulatory aspects concerning new technologies, planned investments, and local content requirements, all aligned with the interests of INLA Working Groups.

The organization of the Congress aligned with Poland’s nuclear safety and radiation protection strategy and was crucial for preparing national entities to implement the Polish Nuclear Power Program (PNPP) and new technologies, including small modular reactors (SMRs).
