On May 29, 2025, the international conference “Concentration Of Facts & Evidence And Case-Management In Civil Proceedings: Experiences And Perspectives” took place in Kraków. The event brought together distinguished academics, practitioners, and experts from across Europe to explore key issues shaping modern civil justice systems, with a focus on the concentration of facts and evidence and the use of AI in judicial case management.
The conference featured two thematic panels:
- Panel 1: The Concentration of Facts and Evidence: Past, Present, and Future
The morning session examined how various European legal systems have developed and applied principles of procedural concentration, highlighting current practices and future directions aimed at improving the efficiency of civil proceedings. - Panel 2: AI Systems in Judicial Case Management of Today and Tomorrow
The afternoon session addressed the transformative potential and challenges of artificial intelligence in the administration of civil justice. Following a technical introduction from a computer science perspective, speakers discussed how AI is being implemented in national court systems and arbitral proceedings across Europe.
During Panel 2, Maciej Durbas, partner and leader of the Arbitration Practice at KKG Legal, delivered a presentation titled “The Current Status And Future Developments Of The Use Of AI by Arbitral Tribunals”. His talk focused on the evolving role of AI in arbitral proceedings, a particularly timely subject in light of the rapid developments in international arbitration.
