KKG supports young scientists at the CHEMKATON 2024 finals

9 October 2024

We support the development of young talent, not only in the legal field! The Grand Final of the CHEMKATON 2024 – Grand Challenge – CHEMISTRY competition has come to an end, and KKG was pleased to be one of the prize sponsors and to support the creativity and innovation of young scientists.

During this year’s final, which took place from 30 September to 1 October, the top ten teams from Poland and abroad faced tasks that required not only knowledge but also tremendous resilience under time pressure.

The main challenge was to develop an effective way to produce and manufacture an environmentally friendly biofuel. In addition, the organisers decided to add excitement and challenge to the teams by introducing an extra task – building a 5.0V power bank battery from… fruit and vegetables!

It was 24 hours of chemistry experiments, collaboration, and innovative ideas.

The teams on the podium were:

  1. the Faculty of Energy and Fuels, AGH University of Science and Technology in Kraków
  2. Adam Mickiewicz University, Poznań
  3. Foshan University, China
  4. Warsaw University of Technology

It is worth noting that the formula of the CHEMKATON competition draws on the popular 24-hour hackathons, where participants have to solve a specific task within a limited time frame. Nearly 100 teams from Poland and abroad took part in the qualifying round, and each team had to face challenges using only household chemical ingredients.

After the intense competition, we invited the teams from China and Japan to a joint integration, where we could not only relax after the strain of the competition but also exchange international experiences.

Congratulations to all the finalists! See you next time!
