KKG Law Firm – the only Polish law firm in the European Industrial Alliance on Small Modular Reactors (SMRs)
23 September 2024
As a law firm, we have long supported the energy transition. We strongly believe that the future Polish energy mix should be based on renewable energy sources, storage technologies, and, last but not least, nuclear energy.
Our presence in the European Industrial Alliance on SMRs is another step towards active participation in the European nuclear renaissance. The alliance aims to accelerate the deployment of SMRs in Europe to the early 2030s, which is key to reducing emissions and delivering low-carbon energy with a small carbon footprint.
Why are SMRs important?
SMRs are innovative technologies with advanced safety systems that can revolutionise industries by delivering clean electricity, heat and hydrogen. They have potential to support and complement the large scale reactors, particularly in the area of decarbonisation of the transport, chemicals, steel, and heating sectors.
Our collaboration within the European Industrial Alliance on SMRs enables us to work with a wide range of stakeholders, including financial institutions, project promoters, regulators, and research centres. It is a platform that supports the development and demonstration of these cutting-edge technologies and creates the right conditions for their rapid deployment.
Why are we bringing this up now? We are committed to building the Polish nuclear sector and raising legal awareness regarding its operation. This autumn will be “nuclear” for KKG. Our experienced lawyers are scheduled to speak, sharing their insights and expertise during the upcoming conference season, including but not limited to:
- Investment in Nuclear Energy – Legal and Economic Conditions (14 October, online),
- Nuclear Inter Jura 2024 Congress (4-7 November, Warsaw),
- XII Technical Conference New Energy Model (19-21 November, Kazimierz Dolny),
is an excellent opportunity to reiterate our role in the development of nuclear energy, including SMRs, and to engage in discussions on the future of energy transition. We look forward to the exchange of experiences and innovative ideas that are sure to come out of the upcoming event.
