Grzegorz Pokrzywka, Attorney-at-Law, as a Panelist at the Third CCUS.pl Cluster Meeting
7 November 2024
On 7 November, Grzegorz Pokrzywka, attorney-at-law, took part in the Third CCUS.pl Cluster Meeting, dedicated to presenting the results of the project and discussing the ongoing public consultations on the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) until 2030. Grzegorz Pokrzywka took part in a panel discussion entitled ‘If Not the NECP, Where? The Place of CCUS Technology in Government Documents and Policies.’ The panel discussed the current role of carbon capture and storage (CCUS) technology and its potential use in government strategies.
The panel addressed key issues, including
- the role of CCUS in current plans and strategies and its impact on the implementation of Poland’s climate change commitments,
- government documents and strategies that could take into account the development of CCUS technology, including updates to the Polish Energy Policy (PEP2040),
- the possible integration of CCUS with the Polish Hydrogen Strategy, which could bring synergistic benefits in the development of both technologies,
- the consequences of the omission of CCUS technology from strategic documents, and possible delays in the decarbonisation of Poland’s heavy industry.
Grzegorz Pokrzywka, attorney-at-law, responded to questions on the key challenges for the implementation of CCUS technologies in Poland, emphasising the importance of clear government declarations for the effective implementation of these technologies and support for the decarbonisation process.
